You might naturally associate martial arts with hollywood stunts and kicks and punches, but the self-defense aspect of martial arts is just part of it. Children that learn martial arts develop the confidence to know that if they are ever bullied, they have the skills they need to defend themselves. However, the real skill we teach is diffusing situations with words before they ever escalate to a physical level.
We teach classes for students that are 4-7 and 8 to 13 years of age, the class focuses primarily on developing the most fundamental skills that young students require to effectively learn Judo. This is a fun-filled class designed to teach the kids through games and quick-changing drills.
Part of our curriculum is the ongoing review and development of life skills such as:

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a defensive art that teaches us to only use self-defense when needed. Children in our program will learn a variety of self-defense techniques against grabs, pushes, punches etc., and how to safely escape, neutralize, and control a bully on the ground.
From their first day, we focus on teaching children how to calmly and confidently diffuse a situation without having to use Jiu Jitsu for defense. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is physically and mentally challenging and will be an exciting journey for anyone.
Wrestling is a highly-effective form of self-defense, which focuses on real-life scenarios and teaches students how to resist them.
The skills students are taught in class focus on technique and leverage instead of using weight and strength. This will enable them to overcome attackers that might be larger and stronger than they are.
Students will also experience a number of health benefits from their wrestling training, including weight loss and improved cardiovascular health.
